I've had some computer problems at home so I haven't been able to blog for a while. I've also been really unlucky lately. My parents are very lazy at baby swimming and stay in the pool forever. I usually crawl up on my own and sit down under the shower when I think it's time to leave. The baby showers are on the poolside. Last time we went swimming I fell when I was going to take a shower and stared bleeding from my nose and mouth. Then I bumped into a wall corner at home the same night and got a huge bump on my forehead. Next day I climbed into a drawer and the whole cupboard fell over me. Luckily I was inside the drawer but Dad had to break the cupboard to get me out. Here I'm showing off my bruises at Moms job.

The quote of the president's wife after the handball semi final (with a slight Icelandic grammar problem as she was jumping up and down on national TV) made it onto a T-shirt sold on the main shopping street already on the next day. Despite the fact that Iceland lost the final and only got the silver I bet Iceland is by far a bigger nation than France when it comes to handball T-shirt making.
The commentators on Swedish TV sounded somewhat relieved that their nearby Icelandic commentator friends didn't scream out loud for 60 minutes straight during today's game.

Today Iceland beat Spain in the Olympic handball tournament and qualified for the final. It's big. Iceland has never won an Olympic gold. If you count all summer and winter games ever we've won 2 bronze medals. The last and only silver was more than 50 years ago. We have 0,3 million inhabitants and Spain has 46 million.
In Sweden they think the 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal so far in this year's Olympics is a disaster. Maybe they will celebrate now since it was Iceland that prevented them from qualifying for the Olympic handball tournament. In Iceland the minister of education and sports cried on TV after the game.

I'm on my way to Flatey. I tried to get Mom and Dad to let me off the ferry there when we came from the Westfjords (and were passing by the island anyway) but they wouldn't let me. Now all of a sudden we are going. Parents can be so strange.

I drove some 800km yesterday and the day before that. We had to show my new au-pairs from Sweden the south shore. We had such a good time in the back seat. We saw a lot of horses, waterfalls, ice cubes and a typical Icelandic sheep dog that became my best friend where we stayed overnight. When we arrived at the farm we saw the sheep running like crazy towards us and after them came this Icelandic killer sheep dog you can see on the picture. It was smaller than me. Mom and Dad also took me behind the waterfalls and at Vík they let me stand on my own waiting for them while they ran away to take pictures.
