Last night a new eruption started, this time under the Eyjafallajökull glacier near the old volcanic crater. The last eruption was in the 1800:s. They are waiting for a big flood any minute now down the Markarfljót river. The old bridge across the river is now underwater and they are digging canals trough the main road to try to save the new bridge when the flood reaches is. People are evacuated and flights are not allowed in the area. Holes were visible in the glacier this morning and then the river was already 1m higher than it usually is.

Mot naturkrefter har man inget att komma med.
Det är obehagligt samtidigt som det är spännande.
Hoppas de klarar att rädda den bron. Synd om den som redan är under vatten.

Ja det är ju skönt sålänge det bara är skador på byggnader och naturen. Den norska ambassadören sitter föresten fast med ett gäng norrmän i en stuga i þórsmörk :-) Om inte vattnet sjunker får de flyga hem dem med helikopter.
